Samuel L.Tilley


Samuel Leonard Tilley as born on May 8, 1818 in Gagetown New Brunswick. Tilley was a certified pharmacist he opened a drugstore with a partener.
Tilley was married twice, the first time to Julia Hanford on May 6 1843 and the second time to Alice Starr Chipmanon October 22 1867.
Tilley's politics were based on this religion. He fought for the Intercolonial Railway, so that New Brunswick could connect to the other colonies.
Tilley supported Confederation and went to all of the Confederation Conferences.He was later asked to join Macdonalds federal cabinet in 1867.
Tilley was very interested in politics his whole life until his death on June 25 1896.

Charles Tupper


Charles Tupper was born on July 2 1821 in Amherst Nova Scotia. He went to school at the Horton Academy ,and later he studied at the University of Edinburgh where he became a doctor in 1843. He then became the President of the Medical Society of Nova Scotia in 1863.
Tuppers political career started in 1855 when he ran for the Conservative party in Nova Scotia. Later, Tupper became the Premier on May 11 1864. Tupper suported the British North America Union.
Tupper attended all of the Confederation Conferences. Later on he joined in to Federal politics. Also he refused a possition in the Intercolonial railway.
Tupper had a lot of cabinet posts until November 1873 because of the Pacific Scandal
Tupper died on October 30 in 1915.

Antione-Aimé Dorion


Antione-Aimé Dorion was born on January 17 1818. he went to school at the Séminaire de Nicolet between 1830 and 1837.
Dorion was very onterested in law and politics. Dorion was a part of the liberal party. He was also the leader of a group called the parti rouge. they had ther own paper it was called the paper le pays.
Dorion entered politics in 1854. While in politics he had to run against George-Etienne Cartier but was then defeated. Later he became the secretary and treasurer of the Province of Canada. Dorion took part in the Quebec Conference but was a against it. He decided to publish a speech in a lot of newspapers.
He was the Prime Minister of Canada in 1873 until his death.

Thomas D'arcy McGee


Thomas D'arcy McGee was born in Ireland on April 13,1825. While in Ireland he was affected by the potato famine. McGee didn't like how Englad controlled his country so he join a group called Young Ireland. After they were discoverd McGee got a price put on his head.
Later he decided to go to New York. Where he lived with of group of Irish People but there was a lot of sickness, racism and poverty.
While he lived in New York with his wife they lost three of their children. After he was offered to go to Montreal and have his own newspaper there.He then took the job and moved there with his wife. While McGee was there he got elected in to the Canadian Legislature.
McGee attened both the Charlottetown and Quebec conferences. He was a believer in Confederation because his goal was to "unite all of the various people og Canada into a single nation and put aside the differences that divided them until this piont".
